A lovely restaurant with good views over the lake. The "Fish Pot Pourri" salad was very tasty, a good size, and reasonably priced. A great place for lunch.

First things first: you'll come for the view and might want to stay for having a drink while sending your kids to the on-site playground. The meals are pork-heavy with few alternatives. As a vegetarian, you'll might have a choice between two meals (salad and Spätzle/pasta). Service is friendly overall, even though you'll have only little contact if you choose for self-service on the lower stages.

Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The view is spectacular. I think this is my favorite place in Essen. They could hire more servers, as ours was clearly overworked.

This place is a nice guesthouse with clean rooms, friendly staff, and a beautiful view of the lake. The rooms are quite small, and, unfortunately, ours was facing the main entrance and was thus noisy and anyone could look into our windows. On the website, there are great photos of the breakfast here, but the catch is that the nice breakfast is only served on Sundays 10:00-12:00. On the rest of the days, the breakfast options are rather limited, which was not what we understood from the website. The restaurant is alright for lunch and dinner (although we preferred to go elsewhere after our first dinner there), and the service is good because the staff are friendly. Unfortunately, on Saturday night, there was a wedding in the restaurant, and the music remained loud until 2-3 am, and people were dancing and yelling right under our windows (the windows had to stay open to give us some air because there doesn't seem to be ventilation and definitely no AC in the room). This made it very difficult to sleep. Also, the wifi (which was supposed to be free) wasn't working, so we had to use our data packages. While we came here hoping to have a good time, we left feeling disappointed and especially not rested after the Saturday night wedding. Even if it hadn't been for the wedding, we wouldn't come back because of the limited facilities and food options.

Family fun in a beautiful setting and panoramic view of the local lake. The food is very well prepared traditional plates.
