  As a tourist, this is not for everyone - which is why I loved it. Authentic traditional Czech pub, where they will keep serving you beer until you tell them to stop. Service is efficient, but don't expect a welcome, politeness or any foreign language spoken. It's a social community feel, the food is great and very well priced. I love this kind of local place. In fact.. don't read this, I don't want you there to ruin it.

  This place is the beating heart and essence of the city. To feel the presence of B. Hrabal and Mencel. Here, with every pint, a new story begins. As it has been since the opening of Tigris, Which boils down to a single great work. This is Prague itself, poured into a single pint. The streets of Prague are not merely cobblestones and the chime of trams, but a vast, effervescent experience—fueled by the scent of beer, the murmur of voices, and the hum of countless stories—where time itself sometimes dissolves, like foam spilling over a tankard and running across the bar. For this city is like the beer it brews: it fizzes, it froths, at once bitter and sweet, like life itself. Golden as the sun. Czech beer is nothing less than sunlight captured in a glass, and when I take a sip, it feels as though the whole of Prague is pouring into me—the spires of the cathedral, the clang of the tram, the cobblestones with history pulsing beneath them, and the people in the taverns, drinking the very same draughts as a hundred years ago, telling the very same tales their grandfathers once told—only now a little louder, a little rowdier, a little more bohemian. For here, beer is not merely drink, but solace and companion, like a dog who always knows when to sit beside you. And as the foam slips down the side of the glass, so too do our sorrows slide away, and a man feels himself grow young again—like the waiter’s apprentice drawing his very first Pilsner, believing for a fleeting moment that eternity dwells within this golden liquid. And when at last the beer is gone, and at the bottom of the mug the light gleams as though the heavens themselves had bent low for an instant, one feels alive again—and not in vain. For Czech beer is Prague itself, and the very life of Prague.

  Apparently a legendary tavern in Prague 1. The staff prefers to keep the place to locals, and it shows, so don’t get any hopes with the service. I was denied service at first by the waiter because I couldn’t speak Czech but the barman did actually serve me beer when asked. Delicious Pilsner too. My recommendation: if you are a solo traveler and want to try some local beer and local ambience, go for it. Mind you, bring cash. (One of the waiters tends to round the final price by 10 crowns if you’re a tourist, so be careful with getting scammed)

  Fun little pub. Apparantly a few famous people have been drinking here as well. Anyhow, when you go in, there is one bartender pouring beer continusly so there is a few liters being poured. Relatively crowded when I came there around 21:00 in the evening. A funny remark is that when I had a empty glass then they just assumed i wanted one more beer (of course i wanted😄) and just brought me another one. Mind readers 😅 Be aware that its cash only!! But there is a atm meters away. They did serve food here but i only had a few beers. The pilsner was really good👍 If you are a larger party you might not get a free table right away.

  Best beer in the world!!!! Absolutely amazing atmosphere and great food too. Must visit! There are no small beers and no shots. Puristic Pilsner Urquell experience.
