I had went into Toby jug to use the ladies and had left my phone, I hadn't realised I left my phone, Margaret was amaxing and not only charged my phone but let people cling me know rhst my phone was there and she had put it in the office, came in to collect it at lunch time, got the most amazing large pizza and full bottle of wine for £20 served by Margaret and Tony who are just the best staff ever and nothing was too much trouble for them, very handy pub right next to central station would recommend to anyone looking for good food and wine great prices and the nicest folk you will meet thanks so much Margaret for being my secretary and looking after me and my cuz and Tony for being great serving and chatting away just lovely glasgow folk are the best and great to have mg phone back so appreciate that xx🥂♥️♥️♥️

My family was visiting from the US and walked in around 5:30 on a Wednesday not knowing anything about the place. The bartender went above and beyond with everything. When we saw that the food we wanted was no longer being served per the time on the menu, we started to walk out, but the bartender stopped us and took care of us anyway. This is not service that I would expect everyday, but we were so incredibly thankful. I had the Mac and Cheese and it was fantastic. I’m not someone who often leaves reviews, this is actually my first, but I was seriously touched by the care that we were given.

Budget lunch at The Toby Jug The Toby Jug is legendary...mainly due to the raucous beer garden and cheap drink deals on offer.  Is this the cheapest place for a pint in Glasgow? We decided on having some lunch at The Toby Jug as...well ..let's give it a go.  It's near Glasgow Central Railway Station, not far from shopping on Buchanan Street and its right at the Hope Street bus gate so transport there isn't a problem. We were tempted by the beer garden, however the promise of bus fumes didn't make that an enticing choice! So inside we went. This is the rear of The Toby Jug which appears to be more of a dining area.  We were greeted by the scent of bleach....at least it was clean! A couple of very non fizzy and tasteless diet cokes alongside our lunch which was steak pie and chips and macaroni cheese with garlic bread. The steak pie was ok but bland with Watery gravy, the best bit was the pastry.  The vegetables seemed from frozen with that overcooked mushiness.  Chips were ok. The pasta was overlooked, a good thick sauce however not cheesy enough.  The cheese was all in the topping.  The garlic bread was freshly cooked however the garlic was still in the field! Verdict Below average pub lunch.  If you are absolutely starving it might do. Stick with their beer deals.

The 2£ pints were really nice however the food was horrible. The veggie burger had a pattie and tomato, no sauce or cheese. There was some white sauce in the mac and cheese which didn’t taste good. The service was nice and we were checked on multiple times. I would stick to drinks and appetizers if I were you.
