I’m visiting Stockholm as a tourist and was drawn to Big Ben Pub while walking around — the place looked nice and I noticed they offered schnitzel, which I really wanted. My husband, who’s on a diet and avoiding red meat, pork, and fries, ordered a tuna-based dish. We ordered some sodas while waiting, but soon noticed that people who arrived after us were already getting their meals. When I asked the waiter about our order, he asked me to remind him what we ordered — clearly, he had forgotten. He apologized and said the food would be ready soon. After a few minutes, he brought my schnitzel, but instead of the tuna dish my husband ordered, he brought fish and chips. My husband, understandably frustrated, told the waiter he didn’t want that or anything else. I decided not to eat either, and we asked for the check just for the sodas and left very disappointed. Definitely not the experience we were hoping for.

My spouse and I chose Big Ben Pub for dinner, drawn in by the bustling atmosphere, which as tourists, we usually take as a good sign. Unfortunately, the promising exterior hid what became one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. We were seated promptly and, having already checked the menu, placed our entire order (a schnitzel and the seared tuna) and drinks immediately. We received our sodas, but that's where the service came to a grinding halt. We then watched as four other couples, all of whom arrived after us, were seated, ordered, and received their full meals. We waited patiently for an hour, assuming there must be a logical delay, but it became painfully clear we had been completely forgotten. Finally, my spouse flagged down our waiter to inquire about our food. The waiter's first response was a dismissive, "It's just busy, it's taking longer than normal." This made no sense, as we were pointing out that everyone around us who had arrived later was already eating. Then, astonishingly, the waiter actually blamed my spouse for the delay, claiming the schnitzel "takes too long to make"—a bizarre excuse for a standard menu item, and clearly not the case for the other patrons. A few minutes later, he returned, looking confused, and asked me, "You ordered fish, right?" I confirmed, "Yes, the seared tuna." After nearly an hour and a half of waiting, the waiter returned... with a completely incorrect order. At this point, we were famished and deeply frustrated. After 90 minutes of being ignored, blamed for their kitchen's issues, and finally presented with the wrong food, we were done. I told the waiter to cancel the food, bring the check for our sodas, and that we were leaving. Only then, as we were standing up to go, did he begin to apologize profusely and offer to "change the order." It was far too little, far too late. We left, completely aggravated and still hungry. Do not make the same mistake we did. This pub's service was appallingly disorganized and unprofessional. My advice: go around the corner. We found a wonderful Mediterranean restaurant and saw another spot across the street, both of which will surely value your time and business more than this establishment.

Big Ben on Folkungagatan is a cozy gem. The booths, leather seating, and warm wood paneling make it perfect for a relaxed evening with friends. The beer selection is impressively wide, and the occasional stand-up shows add a fun twist to the atmosphere. Great spot for both a casual drink or a night out with some laughs!

Bishops Finger real ale tasted good. Got that cask popped today. But the toiletry. Super 5 stars for this. Only one for men and their own sink. Women, you got your own toilet / spa area. This is just Toppen!

An English pub in Stockholm, who’d have thought? The food was good and the beer excellent.
