Bad experience of festive dinner. Raw sprouts and parsnips on the plate. Turkey crown was tough as an old boot. Chocolate mousse was more like a heavy uncooked chocolate cake mix. However they were apologetic & we were fairly compensated. Service was a bit slow but I think it was because of the time of the year & maybe a lack of staff. It was a shame as it was a family get together. I wouldn’t bother again.

Drinks were good. Atmosphere good. However, they had a Tuesday evening burger special on the chalkboard and Christmas menu. When we ordered burgers, they said they do not offer that special during Christmas (today is only 9 dec). I mentioned that it is on the chalkboard and it should be erased if they are not honoring it, but the waitress said the manager did not want to remove. I believe they should have honored it since it was in black and white. Furthermore, our waitress never returned. Very very disappointing, as we were planning to spend the evening there. Instead we went to a different restaurant (kibou) and had an amazing meal!

Lovely pub, the new upstairs area is great. We brought our dog Mabel and they were very accommodating. Shout out to Charles and Jenna for looking after us. 🙌🏻

The Albion is a pub and restaurant I’ve been wanting to try for a long time and when I did, I came to try the Sunday Roast. The main appeal for this pub came from seeing it at night, tucked away in a lane which looked like such a quaint experience! It definitely still has this vibe when visiting, albeit a bit smaller on the inside. The main room is fantastic, with a wonderful bar and a fireplace. The upstairs dining area is also good, but doesn’t carry the same atmosphere as downstairs. As for the food, it was a good meal, although a bit lacklustre in terms of quantity of food with the vegetables on the plate not being a significant portion. This was mildly disappointing as the Sunday Roast is at least £22 depending on the meat that is chosen. The vegetarian/vegan option (Mushroom & Squash) was absolutely fantastic and I’d recommend this even for meat eaters. It tasted a lot like stuffing and had a great texture and taste! The staff were are very friendly, except that we were informed to wait for our table to be ready but had to go and ask if it was ready later and weren’t informed by them ourselves. It would also have been courteous to tell us that the Chicken and Lamb meats weren’t available before we had sat down and decided what we wanted to have. Other than this, the staff were great.

Came with my friends for a roast and the portions were large and the food yummy. My one critique would be the beef was a bit tough and the service quite slow. The sides were excellent and everything was swimming in a generous amount of gravy. Would still say I was happy with the meal. Normally don’t enjoy a bloody mary, but it was very tasty and refreshing here so I am a convert!
